Air Quality

Air pollution is one of the main threats to nowadays’ constantly-improving quality of life.
Although researchers suggest a connection to multiple environmental issues such
as global warming, climate change and ecological disturbances, the main concern
regarding air pollution is the more direct and immediate effect it can have on public health.

The main anthropogenic activities influencing air quality include agriculture – both
animal farming and changes in land use for agricultural purposes, transportation,
and industrial emissions. These, along with other human activities with a smaller
ecological footprint, attribute to the concentrations of several substances regarded
as harmful to human health and the environment: Dioxins and Dioxin-like particles,
CO2, SO4, Aerosols, and other contaminants.
Researches indicate that some of the emitted substances can cause specific health
issues, and – above a certain concentration – increase morbidity.

Although anthropogenic activities have been affecting the ecology since the beginning
of history, its effect have been rapidly increasing since the industrial revolution.
During the last few decades – with the industrialization of agriculture and the development in transportation
– the improved living conditions and the growing awareness for public health and environment
had motivated governments and authorities to take actions to reduce emissions.
These actions include legislation regarding contaminants’ concentrations, creating databases
to improve emission control, and other measures still implemented today – TA-Luft, IPPC
(both implemented in Israel under the “Twinning Project”), Clean Air acts, NESHAP
and other restrictions and directives used by authorities and global organizations.

KTE is involved in research and analysis of air pollution effects on public health and the urban- and ecosystems,
along with our activity in industrial air quality and emission control.
Aside from our leading expertise in Dioxin and Dioxin-like particles, we also provide services
such as emissions analysis and air quality report to authorities and organizations, treatability and environmental surveys,
emission control and treatment solutions, as well as air sampling supervising and analysis (including EPA TO-15, TO-17).
